Harvard Men’s Swimming and Diving athletes Adriano Arioti and William Mulgrew competed in the NCAA Championships on March 27. Arioti swam in the preliminary heats of the 100 backstroke, while Mulgrew participated in the preliminaries of the 500 freestyle.

The event followed a day off for Harvard at the national meet. Arioti took Lane 5 in Heat 2 of the 100 backstroke, finishing fifth with a time of 46.46 seconds. After all seven heats were completed, he placed forty-fifth overall and did not advance to the finals.

Mulgrew, who had finished ninth in the 1,650 freestyle earlier in the week, raced from Lane 7 in Heat 4 of the 500 freestyle. He also finished fifth in his heat with a time of 4:14.97. When results from all six heats were tallied, Mulgrew ranked twenty-third overall and did not qualify for finals.

Harvard is set to conclude its participation at this year’s NCAA Championships on Saturday when Arioti competes again, this time in the preliminary round of the 200 backstroke at 10 a.m., with finals scheduled for later that evening at six o’clock Eastern Time. ESPN+ will provide live coverage.
