Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, representing Massachusetts’ 7th district in the U.S. Congress, shares her perspectives on current political issues through a series of tweets. These posts address topics such as education, federal employment and ethics, and banking regulations. Pressley, who assumed office in 2019, touches on various concerns that she believes demand attention and action.

On April 8, 2025, Congresswoman Pressley emphasized the need for nurturing learning environments in classrooms, critiquing the current state of public education. “Classrooms should be a place for students to learn & thrive—not be overpoliced & criminalized.” She plans to reintroduce bills aimed at fostering safe and supportive educational spaces.

In a subsequent tweet on April 9, 2025, Pressley criticized then-President Trump’s actions regarding federal workers, alleging a conflict of interest. “While Trump fires federal workers & sparks a trade war that’ll raise costs, he gave @USTradeRep two other jobs meant to protect those workers & enforce ethics.” She called for the resignation of Jamieson Greer from his roles, citing the conflict.

On the same day, Pressley also addressed an effort by Republicans to repeal a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau rule regarding bank overdraft fees. She voiced concern over the impact this would have on vulnerable consumers, particularly low-income individuals. “Republicans want to repeal the CFPB’s cost-saving and life-changing rule to cap bank overdraft fees at just $5.” She criticized the actions as prioritizing financial institutions over the needs of the less affluent.

Ayanna Pressley has been active in the U.S. Congress since 2019 and previously served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Born in 1974 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and currently residing in Boston, Pressley represents Massachusetts’ 7th congressional district, having succeeded Mike Capuano.
