Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, who represents Massachusetts’ 7th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media addressing recent issues related to immigration enforcement and veterans’ rights.

On March 27, 2026, Pressley highlighted the death of Emmanuel Damas, writing: “We lost our #MA7 neighbor Emmanuel Damas after he was denied medical care by ICE. He had a toothache, fell into a coma, & died of sepsis. His tragic death was wholly preventable. My heart goes out to his family, & I’ll keep pushing for the accountability & healing they deserve.”

Later that day, she commented on legislative developments affecting veterans: “Senate Republicans blocked a proposal that would’ve restored veterans’ reproductive rights, including the right to an abortion in cases of rape or incest. Cruel & shameful. Our veterans should be met with respect & support—and that includes their right to vital reproductive” (March 27, 2026).

In another post dated March 28, 2026, Pressley criticized Republican spending priorities and reiterated her stance on immigration reform: “Instead of paying our dedicated TSA workers, Republicans would rather spend more money on ICE’s campaign of terror & cruelty. I voted No. We must keep fighting to abolish ICE, end qualified immunity, and transform our immigration system to center the dignity & humanity of all.”

Ayanna Pressley has served in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Mike Capuano and previously worked in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. She was born in Cincinnati in 1974 and currently resides in Boston.
