Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, who represents Massachusetts’ 7th district in the U.S. Congress, has issued a series of statements on social media addressing concerns over war and book bans.
On April 7, 2026, Pressley posted: “This is a horrifying threat of genocidal war crimes. The lives of civilians and service members alike are at stake here. Congress must stop this war and remove Trump from the White House.”
Later that day, she addressed book bans in another post: “My Books Save Lives Act makes it clear: discriminatory book bans are a violation of federal civil rights law. I held a read-in at All She Wrote Books in Somerville to announce this bill to fight book bans and emphasize the importance of inclusive literature.”
On April 8, 2026, Pressley commented on developments related to ongoing conflict: “Deeply relieved that the bombs will stop—for now. But threatening the destruction of an entire civilization has repercussions. Republicans must call Congress back NOW, pass a war powers resolution, & stop this unauthorized war. And Trump must be removed from office”.
Ayanna Pressley has served as the U.S. Representative for Massachusetts’s 7th District since 2019 after succeeding Mike Capuano. Before her tenure in Congress, she was a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1974, Pressley currently resides in Boston.
