Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, who represents Massachusetts’ 7th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media criticizing recent government actions and calling for immediate policy changes.
On November 6, 2025, Pressley addressed the issue of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) funding, stating: “Good. There was never a deficit of resource — only a deficit of empathy. Trump must comply and fully fund SNAP immediately.”
Later that evening, she commented on the impact of the government shutdown on air travel and workers: “Air traffic controllers unpaid. Flights delayed & cancelled. And now Trump is shutting down 10% of air traffic at our busiest airports, including Boston Logan. Republicans must reopen the govt. I’ll keep fighting for our airport workers & their rightful pay.” This statement was made on November 6, 2025.
In another post dated November 7, 2025, Pressley criticized Republican lawmakers’ rhetoric and policies: “Republicans speak with a mouthful of scripture but carry a heart full of hate. They shut down the govt, cut food assistance, & jack up healthcare costs—all while pushing harmful stereotypes of struggle. Poverty isn’t a moral failing & struggle doesn’t discriminate — it finds”
Ayanna Pressley has served in Congress since 2019 after replacing Mike Capuano and previously worked in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Born in Cincinnati in 1974 and currently residing in Boston, she has been an advocate for her constituents throughout her tenure.
