Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, serving Massachusetts’ 7th district since 2019 in the U.S. Congress, shared her perspectives concerning recent political developments and highlighted her ongoing advocacy efforts through a series of tweets on May 1, 2025.
In a tweet posted on May 1, Pressley addressed recent criticisms of the Trump administration, stating “There’s been a LOT going on in Trump’s first 100 days. So far, he’s attacked everyone & everything EXCEPT the rising cost of living—and Republicans have been complicit.” She announced the inception of a Substack newsletter, intended as a platform to provide updates on her counter-efforts.
On the same day, Pressley also expressed her concerns regarding a Republican reconciliation bill, which she argued would negatively impact food security. Her tweet noted, “Republicans’ reconciliation bill would gut SNAP & increase food insecurity in the #MA7 & nationwide.” She questioned Republican colleagues about their willingness to oppose the bill to protect vulnerable populations, stating, “Their silence was deafening.”
Further emphasizing her support for labor movements worldwide, Pressley tweeted about her stance on #MayDay, stating, “On #MayDay and every day: I’m proud to stand in solidarity with our siblings in the labor movement and workers across the globe.” She emphasized the importance of organized labor, asserting, “Our destinies are tied. Unions are essential.”
Ayanna Pressley has been a vocal advocate for progressive policies since replacing former U.S. Congress member Mike Capuano in 2019. She resides in Boston and has continuously supported the interests of her constituents in Massachusetts’ 7th district.
