Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, representing Massachusetts’ 7th district, recently shared her views on various political issues via social media. Since replacing former U.S. Congress member Mike Capuano in 2019, Pressley has been an active voice in the U.S. Congress and previously served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives.
On May 17, 2025, Pressley criticized a legislative proposal by Donald Trump, describing it as a “big, ugly bill” that would adversely affect citizens by making them “hungrier, poorer, and sicker.” She asserted that “Republicans have lost the plot and they know their bill is unpopular.” She urged lawmakers to heed their constituents’ concerns and oppose what she termed as a “cruel and harmful budget scam.”
Later that day, Pressley addressed the issue of administrative garnishment alongside Senators Cory Booker and Elizabeth Warren. She expressed opposition to plans purportedly supported by Trump and an unnamed WWE Secretary to seize individuals’ wages, tax refunds, or Social Security benefits. In her words: “No one should have their hard-earned wages, tax refunds, or Social Security seized.” She announced collaboration with fellow lawmakers on legislation aimed at ending such practices.
Additionally, on May 17th, Pressley posted a link without accompanying text or context. The post can be accessed here.
Ayanna Pressley’s advocacy efforts reflect her commitment to addressing pressing socio-economic issues within her district and nationwide. At age 49, she continues to reside in Boston while actively participating in legislative matters impacting her constituents.
