Later the same day, Pressley used the platform to highlight the role of education in democracy, stating, “Democracy is strengthened by active, educated engagement by everyone.” She criticized Trump’s persistent opposition to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives and public education, emphasizing her visit to Emerson College to discuss the future of higher education.
On April 28, 2025, she shared insight from a recent meeting, noting, “Our meeting with Rümeysa Öztürk was a true testament to her character.” Despite adversity at a facility, Öztürk maintained her kindness and expressed gratitude towards the people of Somerville for their support.
