Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, representing Massachusetts’ 7th district since 2019, has recently shared her thoughts on significant events via social media. Her messages reflect her commitment to honoring influential figures and addressing current tragedies with empathy.

On January 29, 2025, Pressley expressed her honor in celebrating the Lunar New Year with Caroline Chang’s family. She highlighted the importance of a newly enacted bill that commemorates Chang’s life and legacy by naming the first federal building in Massachusetts after an Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) person. Pressley stated, “Honored to spend #LunarNewYear with Caroline Chang’s family to celebrate the enactment of our bill to honor her life & legacy.”

The following day, on January 30, 2025, she conveyed her sorrow over a tragic plane crash at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). In a heartfelt message, she extended her prayers for those affected and gratitude towards first responders. Pressley’s tweet read: “The plane crash at DCA is absolutely heartbreaking. I’m praying for the victims and their loved ones and I’m grateful for the first responders on the scene.”

On January 31, 2025, Pressley reiterated her condolences for the victims of the crash while also criticizing what she perceives as reckless actions from current political leadership. Referencing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., she stated: “I’m heartbroken for the victims of the crash and their grieving families…Dr. King reminds us power without love is reckless…”
