Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, representing Massachusetts’ 7th district since 2019, has recently addressed several pressing issues through a series of tweets. Pressley, who succeeded Mike Capuano and previously served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, has been active on social media advocating for reproductive rights, international humanitarian concerns, and financial justice.

On November 14, 2024, Pressley emphasized the importance of birth control as a component of reproductive freedom. She stated: “Birth control is essential to our reproductive freedom. That’s why I introduced legislation to #FreeThePill & make free, over-the-counter birth control a reality. I’m joining the @ProChoiceCaucus to say #ThxBirthControl & renew our fight to make birth control accessible to all.”

Addressing the situation in Haiti on November 15, 2024, she highlighted growing concerns over gang violence and political instability on the island. In her tweet she urged U.S. intervention: “The increasing gang violence, attacks on airlines, & abrupt leadership changes in Haiti have further destabilized the island. For the sake of our own interest, the U.S. must do more to save Haitian lives and we can start by halting all deportation to the island.”

Later that day, Pressley discussed her involvement with Townstone Financial regarding alleged discriminatory practices. She shared news of a legal victory by stating: “Last year, I pressed Townstone over their racist & discriminatory lending practices. And now after taking Townstone to court, the @CFPB has won a major victory to protect people from illegal modern-day redlining.”
