Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, who has represented Massachusetts’ 7th district since 2019, recently shared a series of tweets addressing her concerns and positions on pressing issues. Pressley succeeded Mike Capuano in Congress and previously served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1974 and currently resides in Boston.
On May 22, 2025, Pressley urged her Republican colleagues to take action against a bill she described as “shameful.” She stated: “To my Republican colleagues, you can save lives. You can look your kids in the eye and say that when everything was at stake, you did the right thing. I’m not begging you for benevolence, I’m asking you for decency. Do right by your constituents and oppose this shameful bill.”
In another tweet posted later that day, Pressley condemned the murder of two Israeli embassy staff members outside an American Jewish Committee event in Washington D.C., calling it “unconscionable and unacceptable.” She emphasized the interconnectedness of freedoms and destinies while expressing sympathy: “The murder of two Israeli embassy staff outside an @AJCGlobal event in DC is unconscionable and unacceptable. Our freedoms and our destinies are truly tied. I’m praying for the victims, their loved ones, and everyone impacted.”
Additionally, Pressley criticized a Republican bill as being “cruel,” “callous,” and “morally bankrupt.” She expressed disappointment over what she termed a betrayal but also indicated that efforts to counteract it would continue: “Republicans’ cruel, callous, and morally bankrupt bill is a shameful betrayal of our shared humanity. This is a somber day, but this fight isn’t over.”
