Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, representing Massachusetts’ 7th district since 2019, has been vocal on various issues through her social media presence. On June 6, 2025, she addressed the deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. “Kilmar Abrego Garcia should never have been unlawfully deported in the first place,” she stated, expressing relief at his return to the United States but urging for his reunification with family and calling for an end to what she describes as targeting by the Trump Administration.
On June 7, 2025, Pressley reflected on the origins of Pride Month. She noted that “Pride started as an act of rebellion against state-sanctioned violence targeting queer people and spaces.” She emphasized that joy remains a form of resistance and extended wishes for a happy Pride celebration.
Later that day, Pressley criticized Republican lawmakers regarding their approach to a budget bill. She claimed that “Republicans confessed they didn’t bother reading the budget bill,” arguing that if they had read it, they would realize it involved cutting essential resources like healthcare and food from millions of constituents.
Ayanna Pressley has served in Congress since replacing Mike Capuano in 2019. Prior to this role, she was part of the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Born in Cincinnati in 1974, she now resides in Boston.
