Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, representing Massachusetts’ 7th district since 2019, has voiced concerns on various pressing issues through her recent tweets. Her statements highlight her stance on genetic data privacy, legislative actions by political opponents, and a court ruling affecting transgender rights.
On June 18, 2025, Pressley expressed concerns regarding the handling of genetic data by the company @23andMe. She stated that “Genetic data is among the most intimate and sensitive personal information to exist, but @23andMe are failing in their responsibility to protect it.” She emphasized the importance of obtaining consumer consent before any potential bankruptcy sale involving this sensitive information.
Later that day, she criticized a legislative proposal associated with former President Trump and Republican lawmakers. Pressley described it as “More damning confirmation of how harmful Trump and Republicans’ Big, Ugly Bill would be.” She accused them of prioritizing billionaires over millions of Americans who could become “sicker and poorer,” urging the Senate to reject what she called a “shameful bill.”
In another tweet from June 18th, Pressley addressed a court ruling impacting healthcare for children reliant on essential services. She remarked that “This ruling is devastating and will exacerbate harm for children who depend on this essential and often life-saving healthcare.” Reaffirming her commitment to advocating for transgender rights despite setbacks.
Ayanna Pressley was born in Cincinnati in 1974 and currently resides in Boston. Before serving in Congress, she was part of the Massachusetts House of Representatives.
