Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, representing Massachusetts’ 7th district since 2019, has recently taken to social media to address several pressing issues. Her tweets cover topics ranging from health disparities affecting communities of color to employment injustices involving federal workers.
On June 1, 2025, Congresswoman Pressley marked Minority Health Awareness Month by speaking on the House floor about the impact of policies from former President Trump’s administration on communities of color. She emphasized the importance of national health equity, stating “This Minority Health Awareness Month, I took to the House floor to call out how Trump’s White House is making communities of color more vulnerable. Our greatest wealth as a nation is the health of our people — and Black health matters.”
Later that day, Pressley announced her decision to join Substack as a platform for direct communication with her constituents and supporters. She explained her intention behind this move in a tweet: “I’ve recently joined Substack to cut through the noise and update you on how I’m fighting back against this callous & harmful administration.” She encouraged followers to subscribe for exclusive updates and interviews.
In another tweet posted on June 1st, Pressley addressed alleged unlawful terminations under Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s influence over federal employment practices. She expressed her commitment to advocating for reinstatement and justice for affected workers: “Thousands of dedicated federal workers have been unlawfully fired by Donald Trump & Elon Musk. We won’t stop pushing until all of our federal workers are reinstated and made whole with the dignity & respect they deserve.”
Ayanna Pressley was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1974 and currently resides in Boston. Before serving in Congress, she was a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives.
