Boston Bruins recall goaltender Michael DiPietro from Providence on emergency basis

The Boston Bruins have called up goaltender Michael DiPietro from their AHL affiliate in Providence on an emergency basis, according to an announcement by General Manager Don Sweeney.

DiPietro, age 26, has played in 28 games for Providence this season. He leads all AHL goalies with a 1.64 goals against average and a .942 save percentage. His record for the season stands at 21 wins and 5 losses.

Over his career in the AHL, DiPietro has played in 173 games with teams including Providence, Abbotsford, and Utica. He has compiled a total record of 105-47-13, along with a career goals against average of 2.40 and a .919 save percentage.

The recall comes as part of the team’s response to current roster needs.
