The Boston Bruins have recalled defenseman Victor Soderstrom from the Providence Bruins on an emergency basis and placed defenseman Michael Callahan on injured reserve, according to an announcement by General Manager Don Sweeney on December 4.
Soderstrom, who is 24 years old, has played in 18 games with Providence this season. He is tied for first among defensemen on the team in scoring, having recorded one goal and eight assists for a total of nine points. Over his career in the American Hockey League (AHL), Soderstrom has appeared in 188 games with both Providence and the Tucson Roadrunners, accumulating 17 goals and 74 assists for 91 points.
In addition to his AHL experience, Soderstrom has played in 53 National Hockey League (NHL) games—all with the Arizona Coyotes—where he notched one goal and ten assists for eleven points. Originally from Gavle, Sweden, Soderstrom was selected by Arizona as the 11th overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.
