Boston College baseball lost to Miami 8-2 in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament on May 21. The game took place in Charlotte, North Carolina, with Boston College entering as the No. 4 seed and Miami as the No. 5 seed.

The loss means Boston College’s record stands at 36-21 for the season, while Miami improves to 38-17. This game was important because it determined which team would advance further in the ACC Tournament and potentially improve its chances for an NCAA Tournament bid.

Kyle Wolff led Boston College at the plate, going two-for-four with a double and one run batted in. Jack Toomey also contributed an RBI single that put Boston College ahead early, scoring Ty Mainolfi in the first inning. Wolff followed up with a double that scored Toomey, giving Boston College a two-run lead after their first time at bat. Pitcher A.J. Colarusso threw five innings and recorded five strikeouts.

Miami responded quickly by scoring three runs in the second inning—one on a groundout and two more on Fabio Peralta’s home run—taking over the lead from Boston College. The Hurricanes added another run later that inning after a wild pitch and continued building their advantage with Alex Sosa’s two-run home run in the fourth inning. Gabriel Milano hit an RBI double for Miami in the seventh, and they scored again in the eighth to make it an eight-to-two final score.

Boston College now waits to see if it will receive an at-large bid to compete in this year’s NCAA Tournament for what would be its thirteenth appearance all-time. The NCAA Tournament Selection Show is scheduled for noon on Monday, May 25, live on ESPN2.
