Boston College Baseball lost to North Carolina State, 4-2, on March 13 in Raleigh. The Eagles now hold a record of 10-7 overall and 2-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, while NC State improved to 15-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

The game was closely contested early on, with both teams’ pitchers allowing only one hit each through the first three innings. Boston College’s starting pitcher A.J. Colarusso threw six innings, giving up three earned runs and striking out four batters. Cesar Gonzalez came on in relief for the Eagles, pitching two scoreless innings with two strikeouts and just one hit allowed.

NC State broke the scoreless tie in the fourth inning by loading the bases and scoring a run on a sacrifice fly. Colarusso managed to escape further trouble that inning by inducing a flyout with runners still in scoring position. In the fifth inning, NC State added another run with an RBI single down the right field line. The Wolfpack extended their lead in the sixth inning with a solo home run followed by an RBI single after a triple.

Boston College scored its first run when Ty Mainolfi hit an RBI double to bring home Julio Solier. The Eagles added another run in the ninth inning as Jace Roosien delivered a sacrifice fly that scored Jack Toomey.

The teams will meet again tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. for the second game of their three-game series.
