Boston College Baseball lost to North Carolina, 8-7, in their final game of the weekend series on April 4. The Eagles, ranked No. 22, faced off against the No. 6 Tar Heels in Chapel Hill.

The game was closely contested, with Boston College taking an early lead and both teams exchanging big innings throughout the matchup. This loss brings Boston College’s record to 22-11 overall and 9-6 in Atlantic Coast Conference play, while North Carolina improves to 27-5-1 overall and 10-4 in conference games.

Brady Miller started for the Eagles and pitched five innings, allowing five earned runs with two strikeouts. Kyle Kipp came on in relief but gave up three earned runs over just over an inning without recording a strikeout. John Kwiatkowski and Sean Hard finished out the game for Boston College by combining for two scoreless innings with one strikeout.

Offensively, Boston College scored first in the second inning when Jack Toomey and Carter Hendrickson walked before Kyle Wolff doubled down the left field line to bring home Toomey. The Tar Heels responded with a three-run third inning before Boston College retook control with a six-run fifth inning highlighted by Ty Mainolfi’s bases-clearing double and further contributions from Toomey, Luke Gallo, and others.

North Carolina cut into the lead during the sixth inning by scoring twice more before reclaiming it for good in the seventh thanks to a wild pitch followed by a two-run single through right field.

The Eagles will look to rebound when they return home Tuesday for the first round of the Beanpot tournament against UMass at 3:00 p.m., which will be broadcast on ACCNX.
