The Boston College football team began its spring practice on March 10, marking the start of preparations for the 2026 season. Head Coach Bill O’Brien led the Eagles through a two-hour session at Fish Field House, with this being the first of 15 scheduled practices.
Spring practice is an important period for integrating new players and building team chemistry before the upcoming season. The Eagles are working to incorporate transfer portal additions and early freshmen enrollees, following an offseason focused on training and roster changes.
After practice, O’Brien addressed the media alongside quarterback Mason McKenzie and linebacker Anthony Palano, both newcomers to the program. “Take advantage of practice. Take advantage of it. One drill at a time, one repetition at a time. That’s been my motto with these guys, and they’ve done a good job of believing in that,” O’Brien said.
McKenzie spoke about his approach to spring training: “Be where your feet are. We’re taking it one day at a time. We can’t worry about going to Cincinnati. We’re worried about today, watching the film, and coming out on Thursday for another spring practice.” Palano highlighted how quickly he has connected with his teammates since joining Boston College: “Being able to come together with a collective of guys that all have the same goals, and are bought in to getting better every day, that’s what makes us click so easily.”
The Eagles will continue their spring schedule with another closed practice on Thursday and a third session set for Saturday as they prepare for their season opener against Cincinnati on September 5.
