The Boston College football team held its last week four spring practice on April 1 before the Easter break, according to a statement from the program. The two-hour session was marked by competitive team periods and high intensity as players prepared for the final stretch of spring training.
Spring practices are an important part of college football programs, allowing coaches to assess player development and build team chemistry ahead of the fall season. These sessions help teams identify strengths and areas for improvement while giving new transfers and freshmen opportunities to integrate into the squad.
Head Coach Bill O’Brien addressed reporters after practice, saying, “I thought it was a good day today. We have good leadership. There was good contact out there, and they’re trying to take care of each other by playing on their feet. There was a lot of good situational work and a lot to build on.” Both offensive and defensive units contributed notable plays throughout the morning’s drills.
During one period, North Carolina transfer Javarius Green made a leaping catch from Grayson Wilson over the middle, while second-year defensive back Ashton Cunningham broke up a deep pass intended for Nedrick Boldin Jr. As practice progressed, quarterback Mason McKenzie connected with tight end Danny Edgehille twice in the end zone and also found Boldin Jr. for another score. Arkansas transfer Wilson linked up with Landon Wright for a touchdown pass, while freshman Femi Babalola threw a scoring pass to Reed Swanson.
Defensively, Marcus Upton recorded an interception during the final competitive period but McKenzie responded by hitting Colgate transfer Swanson in the back of the end zone for another touchdown. Evan Dickens added points with a rushing score before tight end Brady Clough caught McKenzie’s final touchdown throw as time expired.
The Eagles will resume activities after Easter with four more closed practices scheduled to conclude their spring season.
