The Boston College football team held its ninth spring practice on March 28, featuring the first controlled scrimmage of the season under Head Coach Bill O’Brien. The session took place Saturday morning as part of the program’s ongoing preparations for the upcoming season.
Spring practices are an important period for evaluating player performance and implementing strategies ahead of fall competition. The event allowed coaches and players to simulate game-like conditions and identify areas for improvement.
“Today was more of a game-like scrimmage. There were a lot of things that popped up that we have to correct on film, but we’re trending in the right direction,” said Coach O’Brien after meeting with the media alongside redshirt junior center Michael Crounse and redshirt sophomore defensive end Kris Jones.
During the scrimmage, defensive players Bodie Kahoun, Onye Nwosisi, and Zacari Thomas each made tackles for loss early on. Offensively, Colgate transfer Reed Swanson caught an acrobatic pass in traffic before sophomore Rae Sykes Jr. intercepted a pass to end the drive. Freshman running back Sedric Addison contributed significant yardage both through receiving and rushing plays on subsequent drives, while Evan Dickens and Bo MacCormack III each scored long rushing touchdowns.
The defense continued to make plays as Nwosisi and Jones pressured in the backfield, with Marcus Upton breaking up a pass over the middle. On offense’s final drive, tight end Danny Edgehille made two key receptions before Arkansas transfer quarterback Grayson Wilson threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Swanson at the corner pylon.
Boston College will continue its spring schedule with a tenth practice set for Monday morning. All practices remain closed to spectators.
