Boston College women’s lacrosse defeated No. 15 Loyola Maryland by a score of 11-8 on April 4 at the Ridley Athletic Complex in Baltimore.
The win marks Boston College’s third consecutive victory, bringing their season record to 8-5 while Loyola Maryland drops to 9-5. The result is significant as it comes against a team that led the nation in draw control percentage and draw controls per game prior to this matchup.
Boston College’s draw unit played a key role, winning draws by a margin of 13-8 and holding Loyola to its lowest total for draw controls this season. Abbey Herod led with six draw controls and Giulia Colarusso contributed five. Defensively, Boston College forced a season-high eleven turnovers, with Shea Baker responsible for four.
On offense, Molly Driscoll scored three goals and assisted twice for five points—her second straight game reaching that mark. Marissa White led all scorers with four goals, while Hanna Davis added two goals and an assist for three points. Kylee Colbert also scored twice.
Loyola started strong with an early three-goal lead in the first quarter before Colbert scored late in the period to start a seven-goal run for Boston College stretching into the second quarter. The Eagles built their lead to four goals before halftime and maintained control through the remainder of the contest despite late efforts from Loyola.
Boston College will next play at Virginia on Saturday, April 11, with opening draw scheduled for 1 p.m.
