Boston College lacrosse will conclude its three-game road trip with a matchup against Virginia at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, broadcast on ESPNU.
This game is significant for the Eagles as they aim to extend their current win streak and improve their standing in the Atlantic Coast Conference. A victory would give Boston College a 9-5 overall record and a 6-3 mark in conference play. It would also be their fourth consecutive win this season.
In their most recent outing, Boston College ended Loyola Maryland’s five-game winning streak with an 11-8 victory. The Eagles forced a season-high thirteen turnovers and collected twenty-one ground balls, led by Shea Baker’s four caused turnovers. The draw unit excelled by winning thirteen draws to Loyola’s eight, limiting the Greyhounds—who led the nation in draw control percentage—to just eight draws. Abbey Herod contributed six draw controls while Giulia Colarusso added five. Offensively, Molly Driscoll scored three goals and provided two assists for her second straight five-point game, while Marissa White tallied four goals.
The Eagles have demonstrated strong defensive play during their current three-game win streak, allowing only twenty-four goals over that span and maintaining an undefeated record when holding opponents under ten goals this season. They have also shared the ball effectively in wins, assisting on sixty percent of their goals compared to thirty-nine percent in losses.
Virginia enters the contest with a record of six wins and eight losses overall (four wins and four losses in ACC play), coming off a nineteen-to-four loss against North Carolina. Fiona Allen led Virginia with two goals in that game. Madison Alaimo leads the Cavaliers with forty-six points this season.
Boston College holds an eleven-to-fourteen all-time record against Virginia but has won nine of the last ten meetings between the teams.
After facing Virginia, Boston College will close out its regular season at home against Syracuse next Thursday.
