Boston College will close its regular season road schedule with a game against Virginia Tech on Tuesday, March 3. The matchup, which will be broadcast on ESPNU at 9:00 p.m. and aired on WEEI 850 AM, marks the 37th meeting between the two teams. Boston College leads the all-time series with a record of 22-14 and won last year’s contest by a score of 54-36 at Conte Forum.

In their most recent outing, Boston College was defeated by Miami with a final score of 76-54. Boden Kapke led all scorers in that game with 18 points, while Fred Payne and Jayden Hastings each contributed 11 points.

Throughout this season’s first 29 games, Boston College has been recognized for its defensive performance. The team is ranked third in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and 60th nationally in blocks per game (4.2). Jayden Hastings ranks fourth in the ACC for individual blocks (45), and Aidan Shaw is ninth (36). Additionally, Boston College holds the fifth-best scoring defense in the ACC, allowing an average of 70.7 points per game.

Fred Payne has shown significant improvement during his second full season with Boston College. He has increased his averages in points (+8.6), rebounds (+1.3), and assists (+1.5) compared to last year over the same number of games. Payne surpassed his previous season’s point total within just fifteen games this year and has also recorded increases in steals and blocks.

The Eagles have recently secured consecutive home conference wins against Syracuse and Pitt by outscoring their opponents significantly during critical late-game moments. Against Syracuse, they forced overtime after a strong run late in regulation before winning 81-73; versus Pitt, back-to-back three-pointers helped them overturn a deficit for victory.

Aidan Shaw has been named to the watch list for the Slam Dunk Championship as part of the upcoming State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships scheduled for April at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Several players have reached career milestones this season: Donald Hand Jr. scored his 1,000th career point against Wake Forest; Chase Forte achieved his own milestone earlier against Georgia Tech; Aidan Shaw played his hundredth career game versus Harvard; Caleb Steger and Marko Radunovic made their collegiate debuts early in the campaign.

This season also marks the official naming of Edgerley Family Court at Silvio O. Conte Forum—a recognition of Sandra and Paul Edgerley’s contributions to Boston College through leadership roles both within university committees and external organizations such as Bain Capital.

Defensively at home, Boston College is holding visiting teams to an average of under 67 points per game while limiting shooting percentages from both inside and beyond the arc.

Individually, several players have set or matched personal bests throughout various games this season—ranging from high-point performances to rebounds, assists, steals, or blocked shots—including Fred Payne’s career-high seven assists versus FAU and Boden Kapke’s highest-scoring effort against Pittsburgh.

Payne continues to demonstrate consistency by reaching double figures in scoring across most games this year—including an ongoing streak spanning fifteen contests—and he has surpassed twenty points multiple times recently.

Newcomers like Kapke, Forte, Asemota, and Shaw have logged significant minutes since joining Boston College—with Kapke leading transfer players in scoring average—while freshman Caleb Steger has appeared in every game so far this season.
