Boston College’s men’s hockey team secured a 2-1 overtime victory against UConn on Saturday in Hartford, completing a weekend sweep. The win came just 27 seconds into the extra period, with Lukas Gustafsson scoring the decisive goal after an assist from Andre Gasseau and James Hagens. The Eagles now hold a 19-10-1 overall record and are 13-7-0 in Hockey East play, while UConn falls to 17-9-4 overall and 11-7-2 in the league.
The game remained tied through regulation, with both teams unable to break the deadlock during the second and third periods. Boston College goaltender Louka Cloutier made 21 saves, while UConn’s Tyler Muszelik also kept his team in contention.
UConn took an early lead midway through the first period when Kaden Shahan scored on a power play. Boston College responded later in the period with a power-play goal of its own, as Dean Letourneau found the net following assists from Ryan Conmy and Gustafsson.
Both teams had opportunities throughout the rest of regulation but were unable to convert. In overtime, Gasseau advanced through the neutral zone and fired a shot that was saved; he then collected his own rebound and set up Gustafsson for the game-winner.
After the game, several players reached personal milestones. Dean Letourneau recorded his 18th goal of the season, while Gustafsson notched his fifth goal—and third game-winning tally—along with his 14th assist this year. James Hagens extended his point streak to eight games, Conmy earned at least one assist for a third straight contest, and Gasseau registered his 14th assist of the season.
Boston College improves its all-time record against UConn to 21-8-2.
