The Boston College men’s hockey team will face Boston University in a two-game series this weekend, continuing the long-standing “Battle of Comm Ave.” The first game is scheduled for Friday night at Agganis Arena, with the second game on Saturday night at Kelley Rink. Both games will begin at 7:00 p.m. and can be viewed on ESPN+ or listened to on WEEI 850 AM. Saturday’s matchup will also be broadcast live on NESN.

Boston College enters the series with a 19-10-1 overall record and stands at 13-7-0 in Hockey East play. The Eagles are currently ranked No. 10 in the USCHO poll and No. 11 in the USA Hockey poll. Their opponents, Boston University, hold a 14-15-2 overall record and are 10-11-0 within their league.

So far this season, Boston College has won both previous meetings against Boston University, including a decisive 6-2 victory in the Beanpot Championship during what was marked as the 300th “Battle of Comm Ave.”

Last weekend, Boston College completed a sweep against UConn, who were ranked No. 10/11 nationally at the time. The Eagles secured a 5-2 win on Friday at Kelley Rink and followed it up with a 2-1 overtime victory at PeoplesBank Arena on Saturday. James Hagens scored his second hat trick of the season during Friday’s game, while Andre Gasseau and Dean Letourneau each recorded three assists in that match. Landan Resendes and Teddy Stiga also scored in the third period.

On Saturday, Letourneau scored during a power play and Lukas Gustafsson delivered an overtime goal just 27 seconds into extra time. Louka Cloutier made 21 saves in each contest for a total of 42 over both games.

Currently, J. Hagens leads Boston College with 38 points from 20 goals and 18 assists this season. Letourneau follows with 33 points (18 goals, 15 assists). Several players—including Luka Radivojevic, Jake Sondreal, Stiga, Gasseau, and Gustafsson—are tied for third place on the team with 14 assists each.

For Boston University, Cole Hutson leads in both points (27) and assists (18), while Cole Eiserman has scored a team-high of 13 goals—five of which have come during power plays. Jack Harvey is also among those reaching double digits for goals scored this season.

Defensively for BU, Aiden Celebrini leads with 55 blocks; Gavin McCarthy is close behind with 54 blocks. In goalkeeping duties for BU, Mikhail Yegorov has started all but one game this year.

Historically, Boston College holds an all-time record of 138 wins to 141 losses with 21 ties against Boston University. Their most recent meeting was highlighted by BC’s Beanpot Championship win where Gasseau and Will Vote each contributed two goals; Conmy notched four assists—a career best—for that contest.

The press release noted: “Matt Boldy and Noah Hanifin helped the United States win its first Olympic gold medal since 1980,” adding that “Both players skated in the gold medal game, with Boldy scoring the first goal of the contest.” It continued: “Bill Guerin led the front office as the general manager, putting together the U.S. squad that claimed just its third gold medal ever at the Olympics.”

After this weekend’s rivalry series concludes, Boston College will finish out its regular season next week by facing UMass away before returning home to host Northeastern.
