The Boston College men’s tennis team claimed the doubles point but lost 4-1 to Louisville on March 27 at the Weymouth Club. The Eagles, now holding a record of 4-11 overall and winless in Atlantic Coast Conference play, started strong before Louisville took control during singles matches.

The match highlights Boston College’s ability to compete in doubles, even as they continue searching for success in conference play. Despite early momentum, the team was unable to secure enough singles victories against their ACC opponent.

Aidan Pack and Matthew Overvelde delivered a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles for Boston College. Liam O’Leary and Matvey Greschner followed with a close-fought victory at No. 1 doubles, finishing with a score of 7-5 over their Louisville counterparts. These wins gave the Eagles an early advantage by earning them the opening point of the match.

Louisville responded by winning four consecutive singles matches to clinch victory. Walid Ahouda defeated Matthew Carioscia (6-2, 6-4), Andre Steinbach overcame Matvey Greschner (6-2, 7-5), Pedro Cressoni bested Matthew Overvelde (6-0, 6-4), and Jerald Carroll won against Lukas Rais (6-3, 6-2). Several other singles matches remained unfinished when Louisville secured its fourth point.

Looking ahead, Boston College will stay at home for its next contest as it celebrates senior day on Sunday, March 29 with a match scheduled for a morning start.
