Boston College Men’s Track and Field is preparing for its final indoor meet of the regular season, set to compete at the Saucony Battle for Boston on Sunday, February 22. The event will take place at the BU Track & Tennis Center and will be streamed live on FloTrack.
Last week, the team participated in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational. Theo Schucht broke a 32-year-old Boston College record in the 3000-meter race with a time of 7:49.03. This performance was over ten seconds faster than the previous school record and places Schucht among the top ten athletes in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and within the top forty nationally.
In addition to Schucht’s achievement, Mateo Bianchi became only the third runner in program history to complete a sub-eight-minute 3000-meter race, finishing in 7:59.67. Colin Peattie also made his mark by recording an 8:02.72, which is now ranked as the fifth-fastest time in school history for that event.
The upcoming Saucony Battle for Boston marks Boston College’s first appearance at this competition. The roster for this meet includes primarily distance runners such as Mateo Bianchi, Max Deane, Francis Donnelly, Sean Flemming, Tommy Flynn, John Higgins, Nick Loffredo, Aidan McHugh, Jack Morreli, Colin Peattie, Owen Pett, Theodor Schucht, Colin Shaver, and Roman Sierpina.
After Sunday’s event, Boston College will turn its attention to preparing for the ACC Championships scheduled from February 26-28 at The TRACK at New Balance.
