Boston College’s men’s basketball team will close out its 2025-26 regular season on Saturday, March 7, when it hosts Notre Dame at Silvio O. Conte Forum. The game is scheduled to tip off at noon and will be broadcast on ESPNU. Prior to the start, the Eagles will recognize seniors Donald Hand Jr., Chase Forte, and Aidan Shaw.

This matchup marks the 48th meeting between Boston College and Notre Dame. Notre Dame currently leads the all-time series 30-17. In their last encounter earlier this season in South Bend, Indiana, Boston College lost by a score of 68-64.

In their most recent game, Boston College was defeated by Virginia Tech with a final score of 72-63. Boden Kapke led the Eagles with a career-high 25 points and eight rebounds, while Fred Payne recorded his first double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Boston College’s path to the ACC Tournament depends on Saturday’s results. To secure the final seed in the tournament, BC must win against Notre Dame and Pittsburgh must lose to Syracuse. If Pittsburgh wins its game against Syracuse, they clinch the 15th seed regardless of other outcomes.

Fred Payne has shown significant improvement in his second full season at Boston College. He has increased his averages in points (+8.6), rebounds (+1.5), and assists (+1.5) over 30 games compared to last year. He also surpassed his previous season’s total points within just 15 games this year and improved defensively with more steals and blocks.

Defensively, Boston College ranks among the top teams nationally in several categories through its first 30 games this season. The team is ranked third in the ACC for blocks per game (4.2) and holds a national ranking of No. 68 in that category; Jayden Hastings (45 blocks) and Aidan Shaw (38 blocks) are both among the conference leaders individually.

The Eagles also rank fifth in scoring defense within the ACC (70.7 points allowed per game) and are among national leaders for three-point percentage defense (31.9%) as well as turnovers committed per game (10.4).

Recent home performances have seen Boston College win close contests against Syracuse and Pitt after late runs sealed victories—outscoring opponents by a combined margin of 15-2 during closing minutes across those two games.

Aidan Shaw has been named to the watch list for this year’s State Farm College Slam Dunk Championship at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis; that event will air nationally on ESPN on April 5.

Milestones achieved this season include Donald Hand Jr.’s reaching of 1,000 career points—all scored with Boston College—and Chase Forte surpassing that same mark during BC’s ACC opener against Georgia Tech.

The court at Silvio O. Conte Forum has been officially named Edgerley Family Court starting this season to honor Sandra Edgerley—a member of Boston College’s Board of Trustees—and Paul Edgerley for their ongoing support of university programs including undergraduate financial aid initiatives.

At home this year, BC is holding opponents to an average of just under 67 points per game while limiting field goal percentages both inside and beyond the arc; multiple players have consistently scored double digits during these matchups.

Several players have set individual career highs throughout this campaign: Fred Payne notched seven assists versus FAU; Marko Radunovic scored eight points against FAU; Chase Forte had three blocks against Central Connecticut State; Aidan Shaw grabbed a personal-best fourteen rebounds versus Temple; Jayden Hastings registered ten rebounds for his first double-double against Davidson; Luka Toews tallied twenty-one points along with six three-pointers versus FDU; Jason Asemota set highs across points, rebounds, and blocks at SMU; Boden Kapke posted twenty-five points at Virginia Tech; Fred Payne had a career-high twenty-six points versus Syracuse.

Payne has reached double figures in all but four games so far—currently riding a sixteen-game streak above ten points—and exceeded twenty or more eight times over seventeen starts.
