The Boston College rowing team achieved three top-three finishes at the Sarasota 2k and secured a first place win in Boston on March 28, according to a team announcement.

These results reflect the team’s ongoing efforts to improve as they approach upcoming competitions. The performance included strong showings from several crews despite limited water time this season.

Head coach Grace Hollowell said, “Great to get more racing under our belts, both home and away! Lining up against proven, fast crews is not only fun, but also makes us faster. Despite not much water time, it is nice to see each crew building from race to race and identifying where we can gain speed while being gritty and accountable. The group is excited to train through the next two weeks with eyes on fast racing at the Knecht Cup!”

At the Sarasota regatta, the Second Varsity Four (2V4) crew won their third level final with a time of 7:56.70, finishing more than 17 seconds ahead of High Point University and well ahead of Old Dominion. The Second Varsity Eight (2V8) took second place in their petite final by just over one second behind Louisville. In another event, the Varsity Four secured third place in its petite final while the Varsity Eight finished fourth in its own petite final.

Meanwhile in Boston’s Charles River Racing Series, Boston College’s Third Varsity Eight claimed first place with a time of 7:40—three seconds ahead of Holy Cross—in chilly conditions.

The Eagles will continue their season by competing at the Knecht Cup in New Jersey on April 11.
