The Boston College rowing team finished its first day of racing at the Sarasota 2k on Friday, March 27. The event took place under sunny skies with some clouds, a high temperature of 85 degrees Fahrenheit, and winds from the north at 10 to 20 miles per hour.

The Sarasota 2k is an important event for collegiate rowing teams as it offers opportunities to compete against strong programs and prepare for upcoming races. The Eagles are scheduled to race again on Saturday in several finals across multiple divisions.

During Friday’s races, the Varsity Four (V4+) crew placed third in their heat with a time of 3:50.1, less than eight seconds behind Dartmouth. The Varsity Eight (V8+) also secured a third-place finish, posting a time of 3:20.0 and finishing within five seconds of Southern Methodist University.

Boston College’s Second Varsity Eight (2V8+) came in fourth with a time of 3:30.0, trailing Southern Methodist by eight seconds but ahead of High Point by nine seconds. Meanwhile, the Second Varsity Four (2V4+) finished fifth but was nearly thirty-six seconds ahead of Old Dominion.

Lineups for each boat were provided for both varsity and second varsity squads as well as crews participating in the Charles River Racing Series set for Saturday. The Eagles will continue their participation at the Sarasota event and compete again tomorrow morning starting at 8:00 a.m., followed by additional races throughout the day.
