The Boston College softball team lost both games of its home opening doubleheader against No. 12 Virginia Tech on March 27 at Harrington Athletics Village in Brighton, Massachusetts. The Eagles fell by scores of 11-0 and 14-4.

The games were important for the Eagles as they looked to improve their record and make a mark in Atlantic Coast Conference play. Facing a nationally ranked opponent provided an early test for the team at home.

In the first game, Boston College recorded hits from Adriana Martinez and Tavye Borders in the second inning, while Emma Knight reached base on an error. Despite these efforts, Virginia Tech took control by scoring four runs in the second inning and breaking out with seven more runs in the fifth to secure an 11-0 win.

During the second game, Martinez singled down left field with a run batted in (RBI) and later hit her fourth home run of the season, bringing Abby Ptak home for two RBIs. The Hokies added six runs across the fifth and sixth innings to seal a 14-4 victory.

Martinez led Boston College over both games with three hits, three RBIs, a .500 batting average, and a slugging percentage of 1.167. Ptak and Borders each finished with two hits apiece and a .400 batting average.

Boston College will continue its series against Virginia Tech at Harrington Athletics Village on Saturday afternoon.
