The Boston College softball team lost to No. 12 Virginia Tech on March 29 in the final game of their weekend series at Harrington Athletic Village.

This result affects Boston College’s standing in the Atlantic Coast Conference, with the team now holding a record of 10-23 overall and 2-7 in conference play, while Virginia Tech improved to 31-4 overall and 7-2 in the ACC.

Virginia Tech started strong with a two-run home run in the first inning and added twelve runs in the second inning for a commanding lead. Boston College responded with hits from Emma Knight, Katelyn Deguire, Sammy Horn, and Abby Ptak that brought three runs across home plate by the third inning. The Hokies scored two more runs in the fourth, but Shannon MacLeod recorded her fifth strikeout—a new career high—and held Virginia Tech scoreless in the fifth inning. The final score was 17-3.

Adriana Martinez extended her hitting streak to seven games with a hit during Sunday’s contest and led Boston College over the weekend with a .500 batting average, collecting four hits and three RBI. Emma Knight also contributed two RBI during the final game.

Looking ahead, Boston College is scheduled to travel to Providence, Rhode Island on Tuesday evening for a matchup against The Friars before heading to face Georgia Tech.
