The Boston College softball team lost both games of a doubleheader against Georgia Tech on April 3. The Eagles fell to the Yellow Jackets with scores of 11-8 in the first game and 5-1 in the second.

The results affect Boston College’s record, bringing them to 11 wins and 25 losses overall, and a conference record of two wins and nine losses. Georgia Tech improved their record to 22-20 overall and seven wins in Atlantic Coast Conference play.

In the first game, Georgia Tech took an early lead with three runs in the first inning. Nicole Riddell put Boston College on the board with an RBI single in the second inning. Emma Knight hit her ninth home run of the season in the third inning, helping cut into Georgia Tech’s lead. The Eagles had a strong fifth inning, scoring four runs including a three-run homer by Adriana Martinez—her sixth of the year. Knight tied up the game at eight runs each with a two-RBI single in the sixth inning. However, after holding off Georgia Tech briefly, pitcher Bailey Kendziorski allowed a home run in the seventh that secured an 11-8 win for Georgia Tech.

In game two, Boston College scored first when Abby Ptak drove Sammy Horn home with an RBI single. The Yellow Jackets answered quickly and pulled ahead by scoring three more runs in the fifth inning for a final score of 5-1.

Sammy Horn led Boston College at bat across both games with a .429 average from her leadoff position. Both Knight and Martinez recorded home runs during Friday’s opener.

Boston College is scheduled to play its final game of this series against Georgia Tech tomorrow at 3 p.m., which will be broadcast on ACCNX.
