The Boston College softball team will return to Atlantic Coast Conference play on April 2 as they travel to Atlanta, Georgia, for a weekend series against Georgia Tech at Mewborn Field. The three-game matchup begins Friday at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on ACCNX.
The series is important for the Eagles as they look to improve their conference record after recent performances. Boston College enters the weekend with an overall record of 11-23 and a conference mark of 2-7.
In their most recent game, the Eagles secured a comeback win over Providence College, scoring ten runs on twelve hits. Adriana Martinez and Abby Ptak each hit their fifth home run of the season during that game. Earlier in the week, Boston College faced No. 12 Virginia Tech at home but lost all three games in that series; Martinez contributed a two-run home run in one contest.
Ptak currently leads the team offensively with a .422 batting average, .679 slugging percentage, eleven doubles, and forty-six total hits this season. She has recorded sixteen multi-hit games and is tied for tenth place in doubles among all ACC players this year.
Martinez continues her strong performance with an eight-game hitting streak and five home runs so far this season. Her achievements include a grand slam against Pitt and five multi-RBI games.
Freshman Emma Knight has also made significant contributions by leading the team with thirty runs batted in (RBI) and tallying thirty-one hits. After playing North Carolina, Knight became only the sixth player in program history to hit two home runs in one game—a feat last matched by Hall of Famer Tatiana Cortez—and tied the program’s single-game RBI record with seven.
Georgia Tech holds an all-time advantage over Boston College (17–37), though BC’s last win came during their previous meeting in 2023. The Yellow Jackets have posted a 5–10 conference record so far this season, including notable wins over ranked teams Clemson and Virginia but are coming off an ACC sweep by Louisville. In their latest outing, Gracyn Tucker led Georgia Tech to victory over Mercer by going three-for-three with two home runs and six RBI; she recently reached her hundredth career hit while maintaining a nine-game hitting streak.
Seven players from Georgia Tech are batting above .300 this year; Alyssa Willer leads them with a .385 average while pitcher Madalyn Johnson has thrown one hundred ten innings with an earned run average (ERA) of 3.69.
Looking ahead, Boston College will begin its longest homestand of the season next Tuesday against UConn before hosting Syracuse—featuring special events such as its first Hit-A-Thon—and No. 23 Duke.
