The Boston College softball team defeated Providence College 10-7 in a comeback victory on March 31. The game, played in Providence, saw the Eagles rally after falling behind early.

This result is significant for Boston College as it improves their record and demonstrates resilience during the season. Early in the game, Providence scored six runs across the first two innings, putting pressure on Boston College to respond.

Boston College began their offensive push in the fourth inning with Katelyn Deguire driving in a run and Holly Paharik following up with another RBI single to cut into Providence’s lead. Strong defensive plays from Paharik at third base and Nicole Riddell in right field helped keep the Eagles within reach.

In the fifth inning, Emma Knight and Abby Ptak contributed hits before Adriana Martinez hit her fifth home run of the season, narrowing the score to 5-7. The sixth inning saw more offense from Boston College as Paharik and Kae DePerio each singled before Ptak hit a three-run home run to give her team an 8-7 lead. Pitcher Bailey Kendziorski held Providence scoreless for the remainder of the game while Boston College added two more runs in the seventh inning.

According to game notes, this was Boston College’s seventh multi-home run game of the season. Both Martinez and Ptak recorded their fifth home runs of this campaign, while BC tallied its tenth double-digit hit performance this year. The Eagles remain undefeated at 5-0 when scoring ten or more runs.

Looking ahead, Boston College will travel to Georgia Tech for a three-game Atlantic Coast Conference series starting Friday night.
