The Boston College softball team will travel to the University of South Carolina for a three-game series against the Gamecocks, beginning Friday night at Carolina Softball Stadium at Beckham Field. The games will be broadcast on SEC Network+.

This matchup comes as Boston College returns from its spring break trip, where the team posted a 3-3 record across games in North Carolina and Virginia. During this stretch, the Eagles achieved an 11-2 win over North Carolina A&T, highlighted by Maycee Hilt’s grand slam and a ten-run first inning—their highest-scoring inning since 2015. At the Hokie Invitational hosted by Virginia Tech, Emily Van Cleef threw a complete game shutout against Bryant, Emma Knight collected ten hits and three home runs with a slugging percentage of 1.105, Meghan Schouten drove in twelve runs batted in (RBI), and AD Martinez hit her first career home run.

Freshman Emma Knight has made an impact early in her career. Over the past week, she batted .526 with ten hits and seven RBI. After the UNC series, Knight became just the sixth Eagle to hit two home runs in one game and tied Hall of Famer Tatiana Cortez for most RBI in a single game with seven—a feat last accomplished in 2017.

Knight currently leads Boston College with twenty-four RBI and eight multi-RBI games. Abby Ptak leads the team in batting average (.425), slugging percentage (.613), and hits (34), ranking among the top ten hitters in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Schouten has recorded seven doubles this season, also placing her among ACC leaders. On the pitching staff, Van Cleef holds a team-best earned run average (ERA) of 2.83 through thirty-four and two-thirds innings pitched with five wins, while Kelly Colleran leads with thirty-eight strikeouts.

South Carolina enters the series ranked No. 23 by both NFCA and D1Softball polls and No. 24 by Softball America and USA Softball/ESPN polls. The Gamecocks have two batters hitting above .400: Karley Shelton (.420) and Quincee Lilio (.419). Jori Heard leads their pitching staff with fifty-five and two-thirds innings pitched and forty-seven strikeouts.

Following this weekend’s series, Boston College is scheduled to play a midweek doubleheader at Providence before resuming ACC play on the road against Pittsburgh.
