Boston College women’s basketball announced on Apr. 22 that JerShon Cobb will join the team as an assistant coach.
The addition of Cobb to the coaching staff is seen as a move to strengthen both defensive and offensive strategies for the Eagles. His recent experience with Bradley University highlights his ability to contribute in multiple areas of team development.
Cobb arrives at Boston College after two seasons at Bradley, where he helped guide the program to 37 wins, including a 20-win season last year. During his tenure, Bradley produced two All-Missouri Valley Conference selections and saw one player named Newcomer of the Year. The team’s defense led the Missouri Valley Conference by allowing only 64.2 points per game and topped the league in three-point defense, limiting opponents to just 26.9 percent shooting from beyond the arc—a statistic ranked among the top twenty nationally.
Offensively, Bradley recorded a conference-best three-point shooting percentage at 34.6 percent and averaged eight made threes per game, second in their league. The Braves also finished second in assist-to-turnover ratio within their conference.
Before joining Bradley, Cobb served for two seasons as an assistant coach with Loyola Maryland men’s basketball under Taravas Hardy, who had previously mentored him during his playing career. He has also coached with Atlanta Xpress AAU near Decatur, Georgia—his hometown—and worked with Northwestern Wildcats men’s basketball as director of player development following his professional playing career in both the NBA G League and Canada.
Cobb earned a degree in African-American Studies from Northwestern University in 2015.
