Boston College women’s golf sits fifth after opening rounds at Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational

Boston College Women’s Golf finished the first day of the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational in fifth place. The event, held at Great Waters Golf Club in Greensboro, Georgia, saw the Eagles post a combined score of 483 after completing one full round and two-thirds of the second round. The tournament schedule was adjusted to 36 holes on Friday afternoon due to expected bad weather on Saturday.

Freshman Joyce Zhang led Boston College with an even-par performance (73-42=115), tying for sixth place individually. She recorded four birdies on the back nine during her opening round. Graduate student Tiffany Cao followed closely behind, tied for 19th at three-over par (71-51=122) after making six birdies in her first round. Senior Cynthia Zhang was tied for 26th at four-over par (75-49=124).

Sophomore Jenna Shilts ended the day tied for 39th (75-47=122), while junior Frances Kim was tied for 66th (78-52=130). As a team, Boston College performed best on par-5 holes with a cumulative score of six under par.

The Eagles will finish the remainder of the tournament on Sunday, February 22, starting at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start.

The top five teams after Friday were UNCG, Virginia Tech, Mercer and Central Arkansas ahead of Boston College. Leading individual scores included McKenzie Mages from SDSU at six under par and Lulu Leetham from UNCG at five under.
