The Boston College women’s rowing team announced on April 17 that it will participate in the Irving-Christensen Cup and MIT Cup this weekend at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Massachusetts.

The event is significant for the Eagles as they prepare to field four Varsity 8+ boats and two Varsity 4+ boats across multiple races scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday. The races are set to begin at 8:10 a.m., with subsequent events taking place every ten minutes through 8:50 a.m.

According to the team’s schedule, Boston College will race against teams including Holy Cross, MIT, UConn, Sacred Heart, and UMass. The competition will span two days, with specific start times outlined for each boat category.

Weather forecasts indicate that Saturday will be cloudy with temperatures reaching a high of 56 degrees Fahrenheit and winds from the east-northeast at speeds between eight and fourteen miles per hour. Sunday is expected to bring showers with highs around 51 degrees Fahrenheit, lows near 35 degrees, and stronger westerly winds ranging from ten to twenty-three miles per hour.

The participation in these regattas offers Boston College an opportunity to test its crews against regional rivals early in the season. Results from these races could help shape preparations for upcoming competitions.
