The Boston College women’s rowing team will compete in two separate events during the weekend of March 27 and 28, with races scheduled in both Sarasota, Florida, and Boston.
This dual participation allows the Eagles to showcase their talent on a national stage while also maintaining a local presence. The team will race against strong competition from other universities at both locations.
In Sarasota, the Eagles are set to enter two Varsity 8+ boats and two Varsity 4+ boats at the Sarasota 2k event. Races are scheduled for Friday afternoon at various times—2:00 p.m., 3:40 p.m., 4:10 p.m., and 5:00 p.m.—with Saturday’s schedule dependent on Friday’s results. Competing teams include Harvard, Yale, Washington, Stanford, Brown, Northeastern, among others. Weather forecasts predict mostly sunny conditions with temperatures reaching into the low-80s Fahrenheit.
Closer to home in Boston, a Varsity 8+ boat from Boston College will participate in the Charles River Rowing Series on Saturday morning against Holy Cross, Bucknell, and MIT. Weather conditions there are expected to be colder with some clouds; highs are forecasted around 36 degrees Fahrenheit.
These competitions mark an important step in the spring campaign for Boston College women’s rowing as they test their performance against both regional rivals and nationally ranked programs.
