Boston College women’s tennis defeats No. 24 Clemson at home

The Boston College women’s tennis team defeated No. 24 Clemson, 4-2, on April 10 at the Weymouth Club in Weymouth, Massachusetts.

This win marks a significant achievement for Boston College, which improved its record to 9-12 overall and earned its first Atlantic Coast Conference victory of the season.

Clemson started the match by winning at No. 3 doubles, with Olivia Cutone and Leyden Games falling 6-2. The Eagles responded as Tola Glowacka and Bella Camacho secured a close win at No. 2 doubles (7-5). Olivia Benton and Seren Agar clinched the doubles point for Boston College with another tight victory (7-5), giving the Eagles an early advantage going into singles play.

In singles matches, Clemson’s Jade Groen defeated Agar at No. 2 to tie the score before freshman Olivia Cutone earned her first conference singles win in straight sets at No. 6 (6-4, 6-3). After Nadia Barteck lost at No. 5 singles to even the match again, newcomer Bella Camacho gave Boston College back the lead with a straight-set win on court four (6-4, 6-4). The decisive point came from #124-ranked Olivia Benton who beat #58 Rinon Okuwaki in two sets (7-6, 6-2) at No.1 singles.

The final score was Boston College four matches to Clemson’s two.

Looking ahead, Boston College will host their final home match of the season against Georgia Tech on Sunday for senior day.
