The Boston College women’s tennis team lost 4-0 to the University of California on March 20 at the Weymouth Club. The Eagles, now with a record of 8-7 overall and 0-5 in Atlantic Coast Conference play, faced a strong Cal squad that improved to 7-3 overall and 4-1 in conference matches.
This match was important for both teams as they continue their seasons and look to improve their standings. For Boston College, it marked another opportunity to compete against a top opponent and seek their first conference win.
Cal secured the doubles point by winning at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles with identical scores of 6-4. The Eagles’ Tola Glowacka and Bella Camacho were trailing narrowly at No. 3 doubles when the point was clinched, leaving their match unfinished.
In singles play, Boston College players fought hard across all courts. Seren Agar won her opening set at No. 2 singles before her match was halted in the third set due to Cal clinching the overall victory. Nadia Barteck led her unfinished match at No. 6 singles, while Glowacka was also involved in a close contest at No. 5 singles before play stopped.
Cal sealed its win with straight-set victories on courts one, three, and four. Johanne Svendsen defeated Olivia Benton (6-3, 6-4), Mao Mushika beat Natalie Eordekian (6-2, 6-2), and Laura Cilekova overcame Leyden Games (6-3, 6-1).
