The Boston College women’s tennis team lost 6-1 to North Carolina State on March 27 in Raleigh. The defeat leaves Boston College with an overall record of 8-9 and a conference record of 0-7, while NC State improved to 14-5 overall and 6-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
This match is significant as it highlights Boston College’s ongoing search for its first conference win this season. Despite several close contests, the Eagles have yet to secure a victory in ACC play.
NC State took control early by winning two doubles matches, securing the doubles point before singles play began. The Eagles’ pair of Olivia Benton and Olivia Cutone were involved in a close battle at No. 2 doubles but did not finish their match, trailing narrowly at 4-5 when play was halted. In singles competition, Tola Glowacka pushed her opponent at No. 5 singles but ultimately fell after a tight first set that ended 7-5. Bella Camacho provided the lone win for Boston College at No. 6 singles with scores of 6-4, 6-4.
The detailed results show that NC State won five out of six singles matches and two out of three doubles matches (with one unfinished). Mia Slama defeated Olivia Benton at No.1 singles (6-3, 6-0), Gabriella Broadfoot beat Seren Agar (6-1, 6-2), Anna Zyryanova overcame Leyden Games (6-0, 6-0), Victoria Osuigwe bested Nadia Barteck (6-1, 6-2), Jasmine Conway edged Tola Glowacka (7-5, 6-0), while Bella Camacho secured her victory over Amelie Smejkalova.
Looking ahead, Boston College will continue its road trip by facing Wake Forest on Sunday, March 29 at noon.
