Boston College women’s tennis opens ACC season with matches at Duke and UNC

The Boston College women’s tennis team is set to begin Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play with away matches against Duke and North Carolina. The Eagles, who have a 6-2 record in non-conference play, will face Duke on Friday and North Carolina on Sunday.

According to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings, Boston College is currently ranked No. 44 in the nation.

Among individual performances this season, Benton has achieved seven singles victories in the No. 1 position over eight matches. Teammates Leyden Games and Nadia Barteck have each recorded six singles wins during the spring schedule.

Friday’s match against Duke will be the 22nd meeting between the two programs. Historically, Duke has won all previous encounters, holding a 21-0 record over Boston College. Their first meeting took place in October 1986 with Duke winning 7-2, while their most recent matchup was in February 2025 when Duke secured a 4-0 victory.

On Sunday, Boston College will play its 21st all-time match against North Carolina. The Tar Heels also maintain an undefeated record against the Eagles at 20-0. The teams first met in April 2006 with UNC winning 7-0; their latest encounter was in February 2025, ending with a 4-0 win for North Carolina.
