Boston College women’s track and field athletes qualify for NCAA Championships

Boston College Women’s Track & Field qualified two athletes for the NCAA Championships on May 30, as Imogen Gardiner advanced in the 1500 meters and Sydney Segalla earned a spot in the 400 meters.

Gardiner secured her qualification by claiming the final qualifying position in the first heat of the 1500 meter quarterfinal. She finished fifth overall with a personal best time of 4:10.61, breaking her own school record set earlier this season. Gardiner also competed in the 5000 meters, recording a time of 16:29.63.

Segalla won the third and final heat of the 400 meter quarterfinal to qualify for Eugene, finishing sixth overall with a time of 50.66 seconds. This marks Segalla’s first trip to the National Championships.

The regional meet concluded with Boston College’s team competing in the 4×400 meter relay. Gina Certo, Segalla, Anna Sonsini, and Anna Becker finished with a time of 3:33.94, placing them eighteenth overall.

The results from Lexington mark continued progress for Boston College Women’s Track & Field as they prepare for national competition.
