A Boston man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for his involvement with Cameron Street, a violent gang operating in the city. Eric Correia, also known as “Bubba,” received the sentence from U.S. Senior District Court Judge William G. Young. Following his prison term, Correia will serve three years of supervised release.
In April 2024, Correia pleaded guilty to conspiracy to participate in a racketeering enterprise, known as RICO conspiracy, and distribution of marijuana. He was identified as a member of Cameron Street, a gang based in Dorchester that employs violence to expand its territory and influence.
Correia admitted to an attempted murder in March 2019 involving a firearm against a rival gang member in Dorchester. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries but survived after being taken to a nearby hospital. Correia also confessed to participating in an armed robbery and distributing marijuana worth $1,400.
The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy along with other law enforcement officials including James M. Ferguson of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Stephen Belleau of the Drug Enforcement Administration; and Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox.
This case is part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) Strike Force Initiative which aims to dismantle significant criminal organizations through multi-agency collaboration.
