The Boston University lightweight rowing program will participate in the Knecht Cup from April 11-12 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. The team is set to compete with ten crews over the two-day regatta, starting Saturday morning with the Women’s Double event.

This annual competition draws collegiate rowing teams and offers live streaming on its YouTube channel, along with live results available on rowtown.org. BU will field four doubles, two Lightweight Fours, one Varsity Four, one Lightweight Eight, one Second Varsity Eight, and a Varsity Eight during the event.

Recent results for BU include two victories in a dual race against MIT’s openweight program last Saturday. The Varsity Eight finished ahead by a few seats with a time of 6:30.990 on the Charles River. Both Varsity Four boats took first and second place in their races. The Second Varsity Eight narrowly lost to MIT by just .619 seconds.

In national rankings released by Pocock CRCA on April 7, BU’s Lightweight Double remains ranked first in the nation. The Lightweight Four is tied for third place alongside Wisconsin and trails Harvard-Radcliffe by four points; meanwhile, the Lightweight Eight holds fifth position.

Last year at this regatta, BU secured both the Danielle Kousoulis Memorial Trophy in the Lightweight Eight for a third consecutive year and claimed its first Ann Harris Smith Memorial Trophy in the Varsity Eight category. Top crews also achieved strong finishes across other events.

Looking ahead, Boston University will return to home waters on April 18 for this year’s Beanpot competition against Harvard-Radcliffe and MIT.
