Boston University’s men’s track and field team secured third place at the 2026 Patriot League Indoor Championships, finishing with 110 points. This marks the seventh consecutive year that the Terriers have placed in the top three at this event.
During the two-day meet, BU athletes achieved 19 medal performances, set three meet records, and posted 13 all-time top-10 program marks, including a new school record.
Freshman Zachary Cox was named Men’s Rookie of the Meet after winning gold in the 200-meter dash and contributing to a bronze-medal finish in the 4×400-meter relay.
Senior Peace Omonzane set a meet record in triple jump with a distance of 13.21 meters (43′ 4.25″), becoming the first athlete since 2006 to win this event for three straight seasons. Senior Jada Smith earned gold medals in both the 60m dash and the 200m dash; her time of 23.73 seconds in the latter tied both school and meet records.
BU also saw success in hurdles events: sophomore Iman Roka won gold in the women’s 60m hurdles with a meet-record time of 8.32 seconds—the second-fastest mark in program history—while junior Micah Perry claimed victory on the men’s side with a time of 7.98 seconds, tying for second all-time at BU.
Other highlights included junior Karsen Vesty taking gold in the mile (4:05.25), and freshman Cox running his winning 200m race in what is now BU’s second-fastest mark ever (21.05). The women’s distance medley relay team—composed of sophomore Caroline Collins and seniors Olivia Dodds, Lily Borin, and Samantha Seabury—won gold with an event-record time of 11:31.40.
In relay competition, Nia McCurdy, Ijeoma Ezechukwu, Jada Smith, and Kendall Barnhart finished second in the women’s 4x400m relay (3:41.24). Ezechukwu also took silver individually in the women’s 200m dash (23.93 seconds).
Senior Ellie Roan earned silver in shot put with a throw of 15.70 meters—the second-best mark ever for BU—and junior Madison Sorrell took bronze at 14.32 meters.
On the men’s side, Moritz Ebbeskotte, Thomas Cowan, Daniel Demonte, and Vesty finished second in their distance medley relay (9:49.82), marking BU’s fourth-fastest performance all-time.
Senior Olivia Dodds broke a school record while earning bronze in the women’s 800m (2:05.15), while Seabury ran to third place—and seventh-best all-time—in the mile (4:44.69). Junior Adrienne Buettner-Cable secured bronze with a personal best of 9:28.98 in the women’s 3000m.
The men’s team added more podium finishes as freshmen Leomensah, Anderson, Cox, and Cappuccio captured bronze in their own relay (3:13.57), setting BU’s eighth-best historical mark for that event.
Senior Gabe Hickman threw for bronze at shot put (17.52 meters), achieving fifth-best all-time status at BU; sophomore Brayden Irhuegbae placed third overall—and eighth-best historically—in triple jump with his leap of 14.71 meters.
In other notable performances from both teams:
– Kendall Barnhart ran seventh fastest-ever for BU women over 400m.
– Caroline Collins and Olivia Duca each set personal bests while placing fourth and sixth respectively over one mile.
– Junior Abigail Waddington and freshman Kayla Kerr posted personal bests over three kilometers.
– Junior Dakota Wang reached a new personal high jump best.
– Freshman Samantha Lascelles’ time ranks eleventh on BU’s all-time list for women’s indoor track over eight hundred meters.
– Freshman Kirsten Barnhart also entered BU’s top marks list for triple jump.
– Leomensah recorded another top-seven program time over four hundred meters.
In final standings for team competition:
Navy won both men’s (218 points) and women’s titles; Army West Point finished runner-up on both sides; Boston University took first among women with 188 points but settled for third among men.
